From Confusion to Clarity: A Midlife Woman’s Journey Through the Digital Maze: Starting with Curiosity (and Maybe a Bit of Naivety). I didn’t know what I was getting into when I decided to build a website and start fresh with Facebook and Instagram last year. I just knew I wanted to learn—really learn—how this digital world works. But wow… it’s a jungle out there.
Webinars, reels, trends, “do this,” “don’t do that”—it was a lot. But slowly, I started seeing through the hype. One thing I know for sure? You have to be willing to invest the time and do the digging yourself. No shortcuts, just curiosity and commitment.
I genuinely love AI. There’s something exciting about discovering tools that can help with everything from writing to design to automation. But even with all the tech in the world, you still need patience—lots of it. Training videos, trial-and-error, and more than a few late nights with YouTube tutorials have become part of my life now.
And software? It’s clever, but sometimes tricky. Free versions seem great until you realise you’re manually piecing things together like a digital jigsaw puzzle. Paid subscriptions? Yes, they come with extra features—but they also taught me where to spend wisely and where to DIY.
Back in the early 2000s, I loved using Microsoft Publisher—it was my little design haven. Discovering Canva felt like coming home. I could sit and create for hours: social posts, ebooks, little graphics that bring joy.
Now I understand the lingo too: domains, subdomains, shortlinks. Things that once felt alien are finally making sense. And honestly? That’s been one of the most rewarding parts.
A while back, I joined a free webinar by Lauren Dallas—her energy was warm, her teaching was clear, and she was upfront about the fact that the webinar led to a course. And you know what? I signed up—and it’s one of the few times I felt like I truly got value. The modules? Helpful. The support? Real. The community? Refreshing.
She showed us how to set up Canva, Systeme.io, domains—step-by-step. No fluff. Just practical help with heart.
Using everything I learned (and plenty of help from GoHighLevel, YouTube, and DreamHost), I built my first funnel for the Happy Belly Ebook. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine—and I love that every landing page includes my brand:
funnels.danishiftingtides.com
That little subdomain brings me joy. It makes me feel like I’ve carved out a proper space in this big online world.
Up next? My 3-Day Nurture & Nourish Program —a loving little reset for women who want to reconnect with their bodies and feel good in their skin. It’s something I’ve poured care into, and I can’t wait to share it.
If you’re curious, you can check out my Happy Belly Ebook here. And if Lauren’s teaching sounds like your thing, why not peek at her webinar? It could be the start of something wonderful for you too.
And if you’d ever like a behind-the-scenes of the platforms I use, or how I set things up—I’d be more than happy to share. This journey was and still is messy, magical, and mine… and maybe it helps someone else breathe a little easier in their own jungle.
Just so you know—some of the links in this post are affiliate links. If you decide to sign up or make a purchase through them, I may earn a small commission—at no extra cost to you. I only share tools and resources I genuinely use and love, and your support helps me continue learning, creating, and sharing this journey. Thank you for being part of it!
Sometimes it’s nice to put in text just to get an idea of how text will fill in a space on your website.
